Globe At Home broadband business revenues soared to an all-time high of P14.5 billion in the first half of 2021, surpassing the same period last year by 16 percent as more customers used the internet due to the continuing pandemic.

Home Broadband was the main driver of data revenue growth. Mobile data generated P38.6 billion and Home Broadband posted P14.5 billion for the period. Total data revenues accounted for 79 percent of total service revenues from 76 percent last year.

Demand for data resulted from increased digital activities across work, education, entertainment, gaming, health, socializing, and purchasing habits. In fact, Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi data traffic steadily rose to 423 petabytes this semester from 182 petabytes in the same period of 2020.

As Filipinos continue to stay at home due to mobility restrictions, the total home broadband subscriber base went up to 4.2 million from January to June, besting last year’s record by 47 percent.  The number of fixed wireless broadband users went up by 54 percent from the previous year, while the wired broadband customer base grew a solid 22 percent.

“Home internet has become the lifeblood of every household. Our cumulative base continues to grow exponentially as people adjust and cope with the new normal.  We are doing our best to pivot and address the growing needs of our customers especially in this ongoing pandemic,” said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.

The outstanding performance of Home Broadband was supported by the sustained volume of prepaid fixed-wireless broadband modem sales and significant demand for high-speed postpaid wired solutions as home internet became a vital requirement for many households.

In its effort to deliver high-speed internet connectivity to more homes nationwide, Globe relentlessly pursues its network infrastructure rollout. As of the end of the first semester, the company already surpassed the 600,000 Fiber-to-the-Home lines delivered in 2020, connecting more households all over the country to fiber.

The company strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, highlighting the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the United Nations Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.
